As Korea's first floating marine park built with a pontoon system, it is expected to become a tourist attraction that provides rest and things to see for local residents and visitors. It is also expected to transform into a waterfront space for culture and relaxation and a national leisure and recreation facility district.
The Pohang area is located on the southeastern East Sea coast of the Korean Peninsula. To the northwest it borders the Taebaek Mountains, with ridges over 1,000 m, and to the east it faces the East Sea. The annual average temperature is 14.2°C and annual average precipitation is 1,152.0 mm. In summer, the normal average temperature is 24.0°C, precipitation is 572.2 mm, and average wind speed is 2.6 m/s. Southwesterly winds are dominant, and heavy rain often occurs when typhoons pass through the Korea Strait and move out over the East Sea.
