This is the largest site among Korea's national hub marina port development projects, and plans are under way to create a forward base for marine sports supporting marine tourism. Expansion and diversification of marine leisure sports experience programs and improvements to yacht operation and use conditions are expected. Visitors can also enjoy nearby attractions such as Yeosu Expo and Odongdo Island. As of October 2014, the project was in the design advisory stage, and the planned area had not yet been finalized.
Yeosu, where the marina is located, sits in the middle of Korea's south coast. Its annual average temperature is 14.3°C, and the annual average relative humidity is 66%, although winter relative humidity is 5-6% lower than in other regions. Annual precipitation is 1,439 mm, making it rainier than many other areas, so weather should be checked before fishing.
